Notes from the Undergrowth
A tiny update, and a query about what you would like to see here!
This fall has been insane. I sold my new book, which I have a million things I want to do before I start editing. Grendel has had 7 million silly little health things that have cost me too much money. I have been doing a bit more tabling sort of events. I also moved apartments. And have been going through some interviews for full-time teaching gigs.
I have been wanting to be a bit more active on here, but I haven’t been able to make the space for it with all the Life happening to me. But I wanted to touch base and just say (to my paying folks especially) hello!
I appreciate the support, and I also want to know what sort of things you might like to see here? I am very much trying to figure out ways to break free from my current day job-trajectory and into something a little more art-centric.
So please, tell me, what sorts of things do you want from me? What is something you might even pay to see? More blog-like posts? Stuff from the archives? Reprinting work that has been published elsewhere, but has not yet been collected? More “how the sausage is made” sort of stuff? More reviews on things I have been reading/watching/enjoying?
I’ve got a lot of things I want to do once I’ve finished this draft of the book, like kickstarting my story prompt card-game, and to get back to illustrating Automaton Deactivation Bureau (and eventually kickstarting that!). Alongside those, I’d love to try and bring more stuff here/elsewhere (perhaps a P@treon) if there feels like a sufficient interest…
One thing that I’ve been thinking could be fun is to stream myself writing some sort of project (novella?) and maybe talking through the process a bit. I feel like that would be a very odd thing to do, but I think it could be cool to give a window into my process, a little bit.
Let me know what sort of things you’d like to see! You might not hear from me much until the new year (or whenever I get out from under this book). I’m excited especially to share more about that book as things approach, as I’ve already been working on some fun promotional stuff. I am going to have I think some of the most special pre-order bonuses yet for this book!
